Big Sun’s photography workshops are social and interactive, yet keep much of the personal touch of a private lesson. Workshops are always capped at a maximum of 8 persons (sometimes as few as 4 depending on topic). As such, every student will get the personal attention they need along with the advantages of learning with others.
Workshops are informal and everyone is encouraged to ask questions throughout the class. We will often cover topics that were not part of the original workshop outline depending on where the class questions take us.
Don’t feel like you learn well in group settings? No problem. Take a private lesson and get all the same instruction (and a lot more). The class can be easily tailored to your existing skill sets (or lack thereof).
Private lessons are scheduled to your needs. As long as your instructor is not currently booked we can accommodate the time & date that works best for you.

Photographing flowers, insects, miniatures or jewelry is something you can do year round in your own home. This workshop explores the skills needed to capture stunning images indoors. Learn skills for lighting, macro, backgrounds and more.
Photography is so much more fun once you know what you’re doing. Learning the basics doesn’t take long at all. This four hour private lesson will get you up and capturing much improved photos in just one day.
Lightroom is your key to a more enjoyable photography experience. Photography does not end once you come home, you must still download, cull, organize, develop and share your photos. Lightroom makes this all quick and easy.
Capture Colorado’s amazing alpine wildflowers high in the Rocky Mountains. The focus of this workshop centers around “in the field” macro photography techniques; however, wide angle / landscape style images will play a part as well. (Both private lessons & group workshops options available)
Gene Tewksbury is a professional photographer who has been leading photography and sightseeing tours throughout Colorado (international photo safaris as well) since 2009. Gene brings a strong background in travel, wildlife and landscape photography (also commercial event and product photography). This broad range of experience has given him an extremely versatile skill set and a unique style of photography.
